Live Music in Silicon Valley: Unique and Soul Touching Concerts

In April, Silicon Valley is going to be a rather busy area. Many different performances will take place in this area. Various artists with various styles will perform there. Here is a list of some unique ones:

Rhye is set to take the stage in a Live Night Event in Bimbo’s 365 Club

Rhye is a relatively new band formed by Mike Milosh and Robin Hannibal. Mike Milosh is an electronic musician and vocalist from Canada. In 2010, Robin Hannibal, when working on the album Quadron, was tipped about Milosh’s work. They were both working under the same record label, Plug Research.

The duo became appreciative of each other’s work during their collaboration in Denmark. Both independently move to the United States. Upon finding each other, they started to work together once again in Los Angeles. They released two romantic soul pop hits, ‘Open’ and ‘The Fall’ together. They released little information about themselves.

Their songs garnered great attention and speculation. Rhye released their first album titled ‘Woman’ in March 2013.

Jesse Cook is one of the most famous figures of nouveau flamenco

The handsome and charming Jesse Arnaud Cook will look to have the crowd at his fingertips when he performs live at Motalvo Arts Center, Saratoga. His musical tastes developed via different influences. He spent his initial years moving between Southern France, Paris and Barcelona. He was influenced by Gypsy guitarist Manitas de Plata’s music as a toddler.

After his parents separated, Jesse Cook moved to Canada with his mother and sister. Heather Cook understood her son’s talents and admitted him to Eli Kassner Guitar Academy in Toronto. Nicolas Reyes, a famous Gypsy artist lived close by to his father’s house in France. In trips to France, this famous guitarist found himself admiring the tunes of the Gypsy Kings.

Cook’s first album, Tempest, made huge waves. In 1995, he signed a deal with American company Narada. He was asked to perform in a small bar downstairs during the Catalina Jazz Festival during intermissions. His performance was so well appreciated that he was invited to perform on the main stage. Cook was given a ten minute standing ovation during this performance.

If you live in Silicon Valley, do not forget to enjoy the performances of these soul touching musicians. Their performances will surely enrich your tastes in ways you had never imagined.

Stanford’s Cool Surroundings

Spread across some 8,180 acres and situated in the northwestern Silicon Valley, Stanford University of Stanford, California ranks amongst the most prestigious colleges in America – and across the globe, for that matter. Of course, with the mention of any significant academic institution comes the consideration of reputable social and after-school life – one of the many factors prospective university students take under advisement when planning their graduate-to-beyond education journey. Fortunately for Stanford, there exists plenty to do and see, ranging from the conservative and humble to the let-your-hair-down rambunctious.

The Pioneer Saloon, located at 2925 Woodside Road in neighboring Woodside, CA, offers live music, beers and shots and maybe even spot a movie star, rock star or billionaire. The Stanford Theatre, located at 221 University Avenue in Palo Alto, shows classic films on the big screen and on that charm alone deserves a spot on this list. Often referred to as a “living tribute to many of the greatest films ever made,” the Stanford wows with a throwback ambience and architecture, classic theatrical posters and even a Wurlitzer organ, all reminders that this was Palo Alto’s centerpiece of entertainment since 1925.

On the corner of El Camino Real and Page Mill Road, also in Palo Alto, is a massive grass and recreational area known as the Palo Alto/Stanford Community Playing Fields. Here, two sprawling soccer fields are drenched in plenty of light for any type of activity, along with plenty of parking. The Stanford Athletics Shop at 269 Galvez Street in Stanford carries a boatload of Stanford apparel, and is actually an offshoot of the school’s campus bookstore; a relatively small size for a retail shop and an attentive staff have made this a favorite of Stanford fans as well as its student body.

Sunken Diamond baseball stadium sits on Nelson Road in Stanford, playing host to an array of college baseball matchups. One of the most appealing draws of the venue is the way in which its positioning tends to put spectators “much closer to the action” than most pro baseball stadiums, leading to its reputation of being one of the most adored venues in the Bay Area to watch a game.

From out-of-the-park home runs to classic cinema shown amidst a backdrop of legendary charm, these attractions are merely scratching the surface of what the Stanford University surrounding area has in store.

San Francisco Real Estate Market in 2014

The real estate market in San Francisco is trending towards recovery. The inventory is dwindling, and the home prices are increasing, but pundits warn potential investors that the housing market, in general, will not recover until 2014. According to a survey conducted, Americans believe that the recovery of the overall housing market is two and half years away. Here is what potential investors should know prior to making an investment.

FORECLOSURES-SAN FRANCISCO oldpic1939

Foreclosures and the San Francisco Real Estate Market

The housing market is in jeopardy because of foreclosures primarily. This crisis has discounted houses by 46 percent in California and 35 percent all over the nation. When there are a significant number of foreclosures on the market, this forces the prices down on other properties.

In general, there is a two-year supply of bank-owned properties available. Typically, California homes require 600 days before foreclosure occurs. Since the process takes a considerable time, home buyers will begin witnessing homes in foreclosure that began the process almost two years earlier. This is why pundits speculate that the housing market will not show strong signs of recovery until 2014.

The large number of foreclosures is what keeps the prices low and also, keeps new construction at a minimum. San Francisco’s problems stem from the lack of inventory and the inability to find affordable properties. Inventory has reduced by 57 percent, and prices have increased by 25 percent. When cash buyers come into play, finding an affordable property becomes even more difficult. Short sales are also growing in popularity, but it creates a problem in the San Francisco housing market.

Future Housing Expectations and Policy Changes

Pundits are expecting to sell the rest of the distressed inventory in 2013 and into 2014. Then, there will be signs of recovery. One circumstance that may impede this process is the housing policy changes. Currently, 96 percent of all mortgages are originating from FHA, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac. There is also a considerable number of cash-paying investors.

The conversations on Capitol Hill may affect the number of mortgage arising from these organizations. The Dodd-Frank bill is one to watch. Without mortgages, there will be no housing market. The United States housing market is close to hitting rock bottom. Thus, this is the best time to buy before the prices start to recover and remain steady, but pundits do not expect the entire market to recover for another 18 months.
